Cultural Sensitivity Training for Staff of a Social Services Agency

Client Profile
This successful and popular social services agency and referral center based in Ocean County, New Jersey serves 97,000 area residents. The Center’s service population includes approximately 20,000 seniors, a large portion of whom speak Spanish.

Presenting Challenge
One of the organization's larger funders mandated HR development for their staff. They elected to hold trainings in Cultural Sensitivity.

NPHD Solution and Results

Staff members from the center, as well as staff from an adjunct service took part in an intensive two-day interactive coaching program provided by NPHD. The Referral Center Director praised the expert coach, saying, “The training far surpassed what we were expecting. (The coach) was able to put emphasis on employee/client interpersonal skills while simulating scenarios where cultural sensitivity would come to play. My staff really enjoyed the day and were definitely enriched!” The impact was immediate: In between the two sessions, bilingual signs were ordered and installed so that more of the clientele would feel welco
