Funders/Support

Community-based nonprofit organizations are a critical part of the fabric of New York City neighborhoods. They are there to empower new residents, to support the education of our children, to feed the hungry through food pantries, to celebrate the culture of a community, to provide housing assistance and crisis intervention, to connect people with the health services they need.

They provide millions of services each year, yet many of them are themselves struggling because they lack basic organizational capabilities. Their financial systems and technology may not support organizational stability. Limited, manual reporting may prevent effective fundraising, or interfere with program assessment. Leadership may not have needed skills in negotiation, or in guiding staff to work in teams.

Strengthening Organizations That Serve Their Communities
Each year, the NonProfit HelpDesk provides training and technical assistance benefitting more than 500 nonprofit organizations. When you support the NonProfit HelpDesk, your contribution has a multiplier effect. When we strengthen afterschool programs, immigrant services, parent support programs, local development groups, youth activities programs and many others, it strengthens the neighborhoods that these programs serve, and improves the lives of neighborhood residents.

We build organizational capacity with low-cost, high-quality services and education that help our clients stabilize their operations, and provide more and better services. Services may be provided to our clients at no or minimal charge when funding allows.

Support Our Operations or Fund Services to Organizations You Support
We welcome support from funding organizations for our services to all nonprofit organizations, and also welcome funding to provide services to a funding organization’s grantees, or a specific category of nonprofit organizations.

The NonProfit HelpDesk works with corporate partners and government organizations to create and maintain capacity-building programs that address their issues and communities of concern. To explore the possibilities, contact  Chaya Abelsky, Director.
